1/2-inch foam core anchored in the base will direct and support the shape of the wave.
Heavy poster board glued in place.
The board is so firm that you can see all the places I had to bend to make this curve down.
Stack that cake!!! This is not where I finished. I just forgot to the take the final picture of the full stack. I ended the stack of cake at the top of the wave. No cake resting on the bend.
Blue butter cream all the way to the top. (I must have gotten icing on the camera lens. So smudgy!)

This is an all butter cream job. Fondant would have worked but I had a faster time with texture by using my fingers, scratching the buttercream in any direction I liked. Adding white butter cream for the foam.
Adding extra wipes of white butter cream for more drama.
The curve at the end of the tube defies logic. But the structure is sound.
