Here I added sterilised plumbing pipes to shaped MDF ( available from DIY shops) This will form the main body and rear legs
The doweling is added to support the neck and head structure. This was before I learned the lessons about how heavy a cake head is !!

I crumb-coated the cake, I actually coated the legs and tail as well.
Got carried away and forgot to take shots of the covering of the cake ( I'm still learning!!). The cat was added post design as the head was too heavy.
Hand painted Dog, I added fondant to the cake base and gave it a laminate effect- Loads of lessons learned during this cake. 1) Cake is very heavy especially when fondant added. 2) Hand painting large cakes doesnt always give the best effect ( Ive now got an airbrush)
